Qatar Airways joins Egypt evacuation effort

Qatar Airways said it has added extra flights to Egypt since the start of the civil unrest in order to evacuate Qatari nationals and others looking to escape the ongoing political turmoil in the country.

The corporate jet division of the airline - Qatar Executive - is also flying at near full capacity, deploying its Bombardier fleet to operate several flights out of Luxor to evacuate passengers.

Qatar Airways CEO Akbar Al Baker said: “Since the start of the unforeseen events in Egypt, we have monitored the situation closely and have taken proactive measures to repatriate nationals to Qatar, as well as other countries.

"As the national carrier, we are fully committed to ensure all Qataris are able to return safely, and also to ensure all connecting passengers are able to rebook and return to their countries as quickly as possible.”

To adhere to imposed curfews in Alexandria and Cairo, the airline has revised its schedules to operate flights to and from the cities outside the restricted timings.

Updates regarding flight times and operational changes on the airline’s Egypt routes can be found on the homepage of qatarairways.com under the heading “Flights To Egypt”.
