The Bahrain Grand Prix has been postponed to the end of the F1 season, according to a report in Gulf News.
Citing sources in Bahrain, the paper claimed the season opener scheduled for March 11-13 will move to a slot between the Kuala Lumpur and Abu Dhabi races.
"We have been told to step down our operations," an official with a German race team told the daily last night.
It is thought that the decision will be confirmed later today, Bernie Ecclestone having already imposed a deadline for a decision to be made by Wednesday.
Many states are advising against travel to the country as it is rocked by protests against its leadership.
Many within the racing community have expressed concerns about the viability of the race, especially considering the deaths surrounding the protests.
