Harriet Sinclair, February 22nd, 2011

Oman Air is planning to expand, extending its services to include industrial catering and a hotel project in Oman, revealed Oman Air chief officer Hotels and Catering Richard Hodges in an  interview with Caterer magazine.

“There is a lot of opportunity (In Oman) in hotels, catering, restaurants, so I am looking at all different angles, how we could grow the business, how we could lock up various franchises,” he said.

“ We also have hotel project here now, that has been on the books but we are looking at remodeling, rebranding, relaunching, adding on some F&B outlets a Thai spa and things like that.

“At the same time, with the new airport opening in 2014 we are going to have facilities over there that will do about 3000 meals a day, so we are looking at various things — industrial catering, you know schools, hospitals, embassies, military all these kind of things to plan ahead and think ahead,” he added.

Oman Air has undergone upgrades in fleet, services and has extended its network in a bid to develop Oman's tourism offering.
