InterCon dons jeans for Japan

Hotelier Middle East Staff, March 16th, 2011

From March 17 to 20, colleagues of the InterContinental Hotels Group properties in Dubai Festival City will raise support for those in need by wearing their favourite pair of jeans to work instead of their normal uniforms, as part of their ‘Jeans for a Cause’ campaign, this time to support those affected by the recent earthquake and tsunami in Japan.

The cause was initially inspired by the terrible plights that affected Myanmar and China in 2008, and the eagerness of colleagues of the hotels to work together and make a difference.

Each colleague wearing their ‘Jeans for a Cause’ will contribute by purchasing a badge. Guests of the hotels and Al Badia Golf Club who also wish to join in are more than welcome to do so through the donation boxes which will be available in the reception areas across the properties.

Area general manager Tom Meyer, said he was proud of the support that the initiative has generated over the years said,

“This is the eighth time that we have launched ‘Jeans for a Cause’ in aid of an international disaster, and I am once more immensely proud of the support that our colleagues and guests show for those in need,” he said.

“The cause is not only about raising money for those affected, but to demonstrate to all that by coming together to show that we care, a difference really can be made.”
