VisitBritain in Dubai held an official graduation ceremony last week for the first travel agents to successfully pass its BritAgent training scheme.

The free e-learning course was launched by Visit Britain in September last year in the UAE. It is designed to help front-line travel sales staff increase visitor numbers to the UK through a more in depth knowledge of Britain. On completion of the course ‘BritAgent’ status is awarded to signify expertise in UK travel.

Since its launch 125 travel agents have signed up for the programme and 85 agents have so far completed all the modules to qualify as a 'BritAgent'.

The ceremony was held at the Grand Hyatt hotel in Dubai and was attended by 40 agents from Dubai and Abu Dhabi. With a minimum of two or more graduates, 12 Travel Agency’s have received the status of preferred Britagent agency.

VisitBritain said it aims to have 200 travel agents across the UAE graduate from the course in the next six months.
