ADTA boss to deliver keynote at Hotelier GM Debate

Hotelier Middle East Staff, April 6th, 2011

The keynote speech at the Hotelier Middle East Great GM Debate 2011 will be delivered by His Excellency Mubarak Al Muhairi, Director General of Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA).

Al Muhairi will open the second edition of the one-day conference organised by Hotelier Middle East, which will be held on September 14 at Jumeirah Beach Hotel in Dubai.

The event, which features a range of high profile panel discussions and interactive workshops, is the only conference of its kind targeted specifically at hotel general managers in the UAE.

Last year’s inaugural event was a runaway success, with close to 100 general managers in attendance.

Al Muhairi said the Great GM Debate provided an ideal forum at which to continue to build partnerships with stakeholders in the Middle East tourism industry.

“Inclusiveness is a business imperative of the Middle East’s tourism authorities and hospitality providers as the fortunes of one part of the region greatly impact those of another,” commented Al Muhairi.

“It is vital that, regionwide, we work in partnership with our stakeholders, of which accommodation providers are a key sector, if we are to pool our knowledge and expertise for the benefit of the wider region. By doing so we can develop sustainable goals and road maps and exchange insights which will influence regionwide strategies.

“The Great GM Debate is one forum where we can explore regionally focussed synergies and how best, together, we leverage them,” added Al Muhairi.

Hotelier Middle East editor Louise Oakley commented: “We are delighted to have the support of the ADTA and His Excellency Mubarak Al Muhairi at The Great GM Debate 2011.

“The conference is once again set to be a must-attend event for general managers working in the UAE’s hotels. It will provide a rare opportunity for GMs to share industry issues and best practice, as well as network and keep abreast of the latest trends.

Hotelier Middle East has already confirmed several high level hoteliers to speak at the September event, including Carlos Khneisser, vice president development Middle East, Hilton Worldwide and Aligi Gardenghi, senior director of revenue management, also at Hilton.

To talk about developing innovative dining concepts in a crowded market, Aidan Keane, CEO and founder of Keane Brands, has confirmed his presence.

Other topics will include: the relationship between government and the industry; the relationship between hoteliers and the travel trade; reservation and booking trends; all inclusive hotels and their impact on a destination; and revenue management.

Hotelier Middle East also organises events for GMs in Qatar and Saudi Arabia.

The first ever Qatar GM Debate will be held at Grand Hyatt Doha on Tuesday 19 April 2011.
