Coffee exports from Brazil to Arab countries generated more than $20 million in March, a growth of 44 percent over the same month last year.
According to figures from the Brazilian Coffee Exporter Council (Cecafe), shipments totalled 109,700 60kg bags of coffee, five percent higher.
The big increase in revenues, as against the modest rise in volume exported, was a result of higher prices on the international market, the Arab Brazil News Agency reported.
In the accumulated result for the first quarter, sales to the region generated $58.9 million, 36 percent more than in Q1 2010. Shipments reached 351,000 bags, seven percent higher.
Separately, the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry is all set to explore new trade links with Brazil during a Country Focus Briefing on April 19.
The talks are in cooperation with the Embassy of Brazil and Apex-Brazil, the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency.
The main markets in the Arab world, according to the Cecafe, were Lebanon, Syria, Saudi Arabia and Tunisia.
