Azerbaijan in bid to become GCC holiday hotspot

The republic of Azerbaijan has opened its first ever Middle East representative office in Dubai in a bid to boost tourism from the GCC region to Azerbaijan.

Minister for Culture and Tourism, His Excellency Abulfas Garayev announced the official opening of the new office at a press conference in Baku. He said GCC visitors to Baku had seen an increase off the back of new flight links with the region.

“In the last year we have seen an expansion in the number of scheduled flights from the Middle East to Azerbaijan, and with the support of our regional travel trade partners we are happy to report an increase in the number of visitors from the GCC to Azerbaijan line with these increases, the expected future expansion of this market for destination Azerbaijan, and in order to conduct the extended marketing and public relations activities planned for the region, we are delighted to announce the opening of our first dedicated republic of Azerbaijan Ministry of Culture and Tourism representative office here in Dubai. The opening of this office not only proves the importance of the Middle East as a developing market for Azerbaijan Culture and Tourism, but also our commitment to develop this market further.”

 Azerbaijan Airlines and Fly Dubai, currently offer daily flights to Baku from Dubai. The Ministry pledged to  initiate joint marketing and promotional campaigns with the airlines in order to boost tourism to the Azerbaijan. The new office will also initiate awareness campaigns around the GCC in Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Doha, Dubai, Kuwait, Muscat, and Riyadh.
