Abandoned baby found in UAE hotel

A newborn baby girl has been found abandoned in an Al Ain hotel changing room.

According to a report in The National, the baby girl, thought to be just a few days old, was discovered last week locked in a cubicle in a swimming pool changing room at the Danat Al Ain Hotel and Resort.

Guests broke down the changing room door after hearing the baby crying. The baby was said to still have the umbilical cord attached.

Police and emergency services were contacted and the child was taken to Al Ain Hospital for treatment.Al Ain Police said a criminal investigation is being carried out to locate the mother of the child.

According to the report no hotel security guards were near the pool area at the time.
