Passengers travelling from Mumbai to Doha on a Jet Airways flight on Monday evening were evacuated after a bomb alert was sounded minutes before its departure.
The crew of the Indian international airline flight 9W552 alerted security officials at the airport after a passenger onboard the craft found an unsigned note warning of a bomb on the aircraft, news website Indian Express.com reported.
“We informed all the requisite authorities including the CISF [Central Industrial Security Force] and Mumbai Airports Authority. CISF then asked for the aircraft to be brought back to its parking bay and all the guests were deplaned safely,“said a spokesperson from Jet Airways.
The CISF said it had searched the plane but found nothing of significance.
The flight was carrying 96 passengers and six crew members. Originally scheduled for departure at 8.25pm, the flight eventually took off 10:30 pm.
