Fairmont Dubai has appointed Michael Moecking as general manager, replacing Philip Barnes who had held the post since 2009.
“Michael joins the property at an important time as the Middle East flagship for Fairmont Hotels & Resorts celebrates its 10th year of operation next year”, said Henning Fries, regional vice president, UAE and general manager of the Fairmont Bab Al Bahr
Moecking will oversee the performance and day-to-day operations of the 394-room Fairmont Dubai, which was recently refurbished as a part of an AED 35 million renovation programme.
His hospitality career spans more than 25 years in five continents, and includes progressive positions with leading hospitality companies including Kempinski Hotels, InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, and Swissôtel Hotels & Resorts, part of Fairmont Raffles Hotels International.
He joins from the Swissôtel Berlin where he was general manager and area general manager for Germany.
“We believe that the combination of his strategic vision and his extensive experience will further strengthen our brand positioning as we expand the regional pipeline,” added Fries.
Moecking is a graduate of the Steigenberger Hotelschool, in Bad Reichenhall, Germany.
