Grosvenor House reports 60% occupancy in September

Louise Oakley, September 25th, 2011

Grosvenor House Dubai, a Luxury Collection Hotel, is expecting to achieve around 60% occupancy for the month of September, general manager Pam Wilby revealed.

The hotel launched its second tower, Grosvenor House Tower Two, at the end of August, adding 106 premier rooms and suites, five premier villas and 216 residence apartments to the inventory.

In total, Grosvenor House now offers 750 units including just over 300 hotel rooms.

Wilby said there had already been demand for the 106 new premier rooms, which she described as “a boutique hotel within Tower Two”.

“For September, we have 75% occupancy in the premier rooms, overall for the hotel, which is 750 units, 300 hotel rooms — the rest being apartments — we are looking at occupancy in September of around 60% for the whole lot,” said Wilby.

“Tower One was full at Eid and we opened Tower Two and leased 100 apartments straight away and of the 106 rooms, 70 were occupied. We could have had it all full but deliberately kept it at a level we could manage, we didn’t want to fall flat on our faces, Dubai never gives you a second chance as we all know,” she said.

Wilby added that the property had beaten its forecasts for August and that November and December were looking strong.
