St Regis Saadiyat Island to open seven F&B outlets

Louise Birchall, September 26th, 2011

The soon-to-open St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort Abu Dhabi will unveil its seven distinctive food and beverage venues in November.

The first St Regis property to open in the Middle East, the hotel’s F&B offering will include fine dining, indoor and outdoor options, and casual beachfront outlets.

“We will offer simple-yet-exquisite food across all our venues. My team of chefs were chosen from around the world so that guests truly experience the flavours that complement the surroundings,” said executive chef Daniel Nuss.

Alexander Lahmer, executive assistance manager, F&B added: “At St. Regis it is all about the experience. Much thought and time has gone into developing these food and beverage concepts to ensure that visitors and residents alike have beautiful venues couple with authentic cuisine.

“I am confident all our venues will be very popular.”

1. 5&5th, The Grill
A classic New York-style grill and lounge is the resort’s signature venue. Inspired by the address of the original St. Regis New York, the restaurant features a private dining room, an exclusive cellar, complete with Jazz music, cigars and bespoke service. For an even more unique experience, this venue features a chef’s table.

2. Olea
The Mediterranean-influenced Olea offers all-day dining. Located on the lower level of the lobby with a panoramic view of the pools and the ocean, this restaurant features a multitude of cooking stations. With its indoor and alfresco options, it is ideal for private dining experiences or a delightful family meal. In addition to the buffet, guests also have an a la carte menu to choose from.

3. Sontaya
This Southeast Asian restaurant looks out to the beach and across the turquoise Arabian Gulf. Featuring an enchanting ambience and flavoursome fare, the pavilions and a terrace overlooking shimmering pools exude romance by night, while signature cocktails complement the restaurant’s exuberance during the day. The large family area, a bright and cheerful section, is ideal for those dining with children.

4. Manhattan Lounge
Coined by the hotel as “the place to start the night or finish the day on a strong note” is the Manhattan Lounge. Well positioned on the lobby level and boasting a large terrace that overlooks the ocean, this cocktail lounge exudes a masculine environment of plush rugs on timber floors, stone-panelled walls, upholstered panels behind traditional Arabian Mashrabiya. In keeping with the St. Regis tradition, the interiors include a larger-than-life mural wall themed to tell the story of the origins of Abu Dhabi’s early settlers. While here, take the opportunity to enjoy the resort’s signature Bloody Mary – the Arabian Snapper.

5. Turquoiz
As the name suggests, Turquoiz embodies the turquoise blue ocean that captivates guests on arrival. A beach restaurant with a large sunset terrace, this vibrant venue is set apart from the hotel as a rustic series of buildings strung out along the sand. Serving a selection of seafood, light meals and snacks, cooked with simplicity and passion, bogey boarders and swimmers alike will trek to Turquoiz to enjoy the start or the finish to their day. Whether watching a sunrise or sunset this venue is all about sand, sun and serenity.

6. The Drawing Room
This lobby lounge celebrates the time-honoured culture of afternoon tea. The signature St. Regis Tea Ritual, enhanced by bespoke tea blends, is practised with much enthusiasm here.

7. Sucre
Complementing The Drawing Room experience is the resort’s pastry shop, Sucre. Located in the lobby as well, Sucre promises a seduction of senses with the handmade chocolates, pastries and bespoke cakes.
