Region's chefs to compete in Hilton cook-off final

Louise Birchall, September 26th, 2011

Chefs from Hilton’s Middle East and African properties will go head-to-head in the final of the region’s first Culinary Challenge, to be staged at Conrad Cairo, in Egypt on October 11.

Three shortlisted kitchen teams will compete to deliver two separate appetisers and a main course dish for a panel of judges, led by Hilton Worldwide executive chef Knud Bundgaard.

The first dish will be a recreation of their original submissions for the competition, while the second dish will be created from a random 'black-box' selection of ingredients.

"We were overwhelmed by the quality and standard of submissions we received and delighted with the positive feedback from our teams,” said Simon Lazarus, area director of food & beverage, Hilton Worldwide MEA.

“We have some of the best chefs working in our hotels and the eight-strong judging panel had a tough time making those all important shortlist decisions. Everyone is now looking forward to a thrilling final."
