Hilton Abu Dhabi has appointed a new general manager,  Wolfgang Maier, bringing 40 years of Hilton experience to the role.

Maier has extensive hotel management experience with Hilton in Europe, Australia, Philippines, China and the Middle East.

Prior to taking on his new role at Hilton Abu Dhabi, he held the position of cluster general manager at the Jeddah Hilton and Qasr Al Sharq in Saudi Arabia.

German-born Maier first started with the company as an apprentice in hotel administration in Mainz Hilton in Germany in 1971 and made his first move overseas in 1977 to the Hilton Kuwait.

From there he has developed his career at 13 different Hilton hotels across five continents. This latest move marks Maier’s second spell at the Hilton Abu Dhabi.

Commenting on his new challenge, Maier said: “It is wonderful to be back in Abu Dhabi. This is an exciting time to be in the capital. The Hilton Abu Dhabi is a unique property that has been a cornerstone of hospitality for nearly 40 years and together with my team, the hotel will remain a true leader with its unique facilities, vibrant dining and entertainment venues in the heart of Abu Dhabi.”
