Hotel Missoni Kuwait now Green Key certified

The Rezidor Hotel Group has achieved Green Key certification for four new hotels, including Hotel Missoni Kuwait.

The certification of the four hotels, which opened in the second half of 2011, means that Rezidor’s entire Middle East portfolio of 21 hotels have received the international eco-label.

In addition to Hotel Missoni, Radisson Blu Resort Fujairah, Radisson Royal Hotel, Dubai and Radisson Blu Hotel, Dubai Downtown have become Green Key certified.

Speaking at this week’s World Green Tourism Forum in Abu Dhabi, Inge Huijbrechts, director of responsible business for The Rezidor Hotel Group, said: ‘We made a pledge at the beginning of the year that all new hotels that join our Middle East portfolio would be Green Key certified within six months of coming online.

“These new properties have all been eco-labelled in a very short time; this reflects the company’s commitment to responsible business as a whole but also displays the commitment that each one of our staff has within our properties to living out green practices every day,” added Huijbrechts.

In order to gain Green Key certification, hotels have to fulfill a detailed list of environmental requirements, covering a wide range of criteria; from environmental demands, to demands on policy, availability of action plans, education and communication. After its application, each hotel is independently audited on its environmental performance.
