An airline passenger from Dubai who was arrested on arrival in the UK under the Terrorism Act has been released on police bail, police said on Wednesday.
West Midlands Police said in a statement that the 22-year-old was arrested at Birmingham Airport on Monday, on suspicion of possessing a document likely to be of use to someone committing or preparing an act of terrorism.
Police enquiries are continuing, the statement added.
The overseas student, who is studying in the UK, was detained following a stop under Schedule 7 legislation after he arrived on a flight from Dubai. He was subsequently arrested and taken to a local station.
The arrest was not as a result of any ongoing investigation and there was no immediate threat to the public, police said.
The suspect document was found in his possession, police said on Tuesday. Media reports in the UK said the man was a Pakistani national.
