Angsana Hotels & Resorts, managed by the Banyan Tree Group, has launched Angsana Balaclava at Turtle Bay in Mauritius.

The 51-suite and one-villa resort, which is a 15-minute drive away from capital Port Louis, features local artistry, including wrought iron gates and thatched roofs, to emulate a traditional Mauritian village.

Angsana now operates 11 resorts and hotels, as well as more than 40 spas.

The resort’s public area contains three overlapping swimming pools separated by waterfalls and most rooms have their own private plunge pool. The main restaurant, Oryza, serves a mix of local and international dishes while The Passion Grill specialises in seafood and features a swim-up bar.

Accompanying the hotel is Angsana Spa, featuring nine treatment rooms with eight therapists, all trained at Banyan Tree’s Spa Academy in Phuket.

There are also plans at the resort to soon launch a conservation team to plant coral and develop other environmental initiatives which will complement its snorkeling safaris.
