Burj al Arab to turn red for Chinese New Year

James Clarey, January 12th, 2012

Burj Al Arab’s exterior sail will be illuminated in red and gold to bring in the Chinese New Year, on January 23.

The hotel is hosting Chinese dignitaries who will gather for a VIP reception to mark the most important holiday in the Chinese calendar.

Adorning the building will be a gold dragon, accompanied by authentic Chinese lion dances, drums and zither music – a 1000-year-old tradition which brings luck to revellers.

The 23rd will also see artists showcasing the art of calligraphy and illustrating the name of each guest.

Until January 29, the hotel will offer Asian delicacies at breakfast and lunch, such as dumplings and dim sum, as well as traditional dinners.
