Well-known waterslide, the Jumeirah Sceirah, is to be removed from Wild Wadi Waterpark in Dubai.
Deconstruction of the slide is already underway while the waterpark, which is normally open throughout the year, is closed for maintenance between January 11-31. When it reopens on February 1, the slide will be gone.
However, Wild Wadi said that it is to “make space for new and exciting development”. Later this year it will reveal plans for a new ride that will takes its place, and “push the most daring thrill-seekers to the limit”.
A video has been released on YouTube to commemorate the loss of the ride, with the park’s general manager Chris Perry descending 80km/h down the 33 metre slide for the last time.
In 2011, Wild Wadi Waterpark opened two new rides – Burj Surj and Tantrum Alley.
