Olga Valceva from Dubai’s Burj Al Arab luxury hotel has won the International Receptionist of the Year Competition 2011, held from January 18-20 2012 in Prague.
Valceva won the Dubai heat of the competition last year and competed against 13 other candidates from countries including the UK, Switzerland and New Zealand to take home the David Campbell Trophy and the international title.
The competition involves detailed interviews and intense role plays carried out in front of a panel of judges — all experts in front of house service — from the AICR.
She becomes the first winner from Dubai, which entered the competition under the guidance of AICR Dubai president and regional vice president & development Middle East - AICR International, Steven Mueller.
He commented: “I am happy and extremely proud to announce that our candidate and AICR Dubai Receptionist of the Year winner 2011 Olga Velceva from the Burj Al Arab has done it....she won the David Campbell Trophy that recognises the Best Receptionist in the world.
“Please join me in congratulating Olga on this great achievement that will surely shape her career in the future.”
Valceva beat off stiff competition from Diane Lim, from the Association of Rooms Division Executives, Singapore, who was named first runner up, and Trisnadewi Made Ayu, from Hotel Front Liners Association, Bali, who won second runner up.
