Italian firm set to expand ice cream pizza concept

Milan-based company Pizza in Cono from Techfood is looking to expand its novel pizza fast food pizza stations in the Middle East.


The Pizza in Cono concept comprises savoury and sweet dough options, rolled into a cone with a choice of fillings.


The cones – which resemble traditional ice cream cornets – are available in a variety of flavours including Margherita, Tuna, Greek, Pastrami, Cherry and Berries and Apple & Cinnamon.
Chairman Marco Khairy said the cones should be eaten in the same way as an ice cream cone.
They are made and sold from Simple Point stations, billed as the world’s smallest and most efficient fast food equipment.
The stations can be set up in malls, theme parks, exhibition centres, airports and bars.
According to Khairy, the benefits are the small size of the stations (they start at 5m) and the fact the food served is always hot and fresh.
There are 22 Pizza in Cono stations worldwide, including locations in Egypt, Morocco and Kuwait, where the concept is available at Marina Mall.
