One of Dubai's oldest hotels completes room revamp

One of Dubai’s oldest hotels in Deira, the Carlton Tower Hotel Dubai, has completed a refurbishment of its 158 rooms.

The four-star hotel used local influences for the design, with beige tones inspired by the desert and thick carpets used to replicate feeling of sand beneath the feet.

New headboards for the beds were created using the ancient Arabic mashrabiya design, while modern touches include heavily framed mirrors, curved furniture and soft purple velvet bed throws.

Carlton Group general manager Hosni Al Hadi said the challenge was to “create a neo-Arabic style that didn’t stray too far from the hotel’s character but instead added a slight modern feel”.

‘’At some point in a hotel’s lifecycle it must undergo a facelift to modernise the rooms and facilities and to revive tired areas’’ said Hadi.

‘’We are very pleased with the new look of the rooms and are now in the final planning stages for the refurbishment of the lobby and cafe areas.’’

The second phase of the refurbishment incorporating the lobby and café is scheduled to begin in the summer.

Carlton Tower Hotel Dubai is part of the Carlton Group of Hotels, Resorts & Spa, owned by The First Investor Group.

The Carlton Group also operates a hotel in Jordan, the Imperial Palace in Amman, and has plans to open a hotel in Bahrain.
