The Farm Dubai swaps paper menus for iPads

Charlie Lyon, March 15th, 2012

Owners at Dubai eco-restaurant The Farm have swapped paper menu for iPads to fit in with the firm's green credentials.

The new uTouchMenus will be handed to guests as they arrive at the restaurant, allowing them to scroll through the dish listings and see pictures of the food. They can then order directly from the touch screen.

The uTouchMenu app, developed by Dubai marketing applications company Blue House, also enables diners to call for service and see the very latest available choices, which are updated remotely.

Restaurant F&B manager, Maheesha Ratnayake, said: “The Farm is all about providing the very best of everything for our guests, and the uTouchMenu puts that at their fingertips. When Blue House demonstrated what it could do, we realised it was a perfect fit with our standards, and they were able to set up the system ahead of schedule.

"As a restaurant with a green ethos, we use changing seasonal ingredients, and being able to get new menus up and running with a few clicks, rather than having to reprint on paper, makes this solution a great fit with our business for time, cost and eco-impact. As an operational tool, we can't live without it," he added.

The system runs on Android as well as iOS.
