Jumeirah Emirates Towers receives green award

James Clarey, March 29th, 2012

Jumeirah Emirates Towers has been awarded Global Green Certification following a recent sustainability audit.

The hotel is the first in the Jumeirah Hotels & Resorts brand to achieve the honour, due to its corporate social responsibility programme.

Currently, more than 800 businesses across 50 countries have achieved the award from Green Globe, under the supervision of Farnek Avireal in the Middle East, which rates them based on 349 standards.

It scored 85% against the Green Globe Standard for Sustainable Travel and Tourism, due to its sustainability management plan, integrated room automation systems and its building management system, which is design to monitor and regulate the air conditioning.

For 2012, it has a goal to reduce its energy usage by initiatives such as the implementation of LED lighting and energy-efficient coolers.

Grant Ruddiman, general manager of Jumeirah Emirates Towers and area general manager, said: “Achieving the Green Globe Certification is formal recognition of our efforts, and we hope that it will inspire both our colleagues and our guests to consider the environment when using any of our facilities”.
