Le Royal Meridien Abu Dhabi bags champion barista

Le Royal Meridien Abu Dhabi has employed previous World Barista Champion and general manager of award-winning Café Europa in Copenhagen, Denmark to 'inculcate the love of coffee as well the art of making it among associates'.

Storm consults for companies, restaurants, and cafes worldwide and has been working with Illycaffè, Le Méridien’s exclusive coffee partner, since his beginnings at Café Europa. His forst task will be to launch Le Meridien’s Taste of Discovery Coffee Challenge, which will guide the development of Le Meridien’s coffee culture.

The challenge is an internal contest for staff worldwide to come up with inspired coffee recipes that bring a new perspective on coffee, with winning recipes to be implemented into all Le Méridien hotels.

Having previously taught at Illy’s University of Coffee in Trieste, Italy, Storm was the perfect candidate to take the recent three-day training that saw over 250 employees learn the 'Storm winning technique'.

He is a member of Le Meridien 100 - a group of talented individuals praised for their high achievements in the worlds of art, architecture, and cuisine who use their creativity to develop original and interactive programs for Le Meridien, in the hope of transforming guest experience.
