Jumeirah CEO Guy Crawford to retire in June

Jumeirah Group chief executive officer Guy Crawford will retire in June, the Dubai-based operator announced today. 

Guy Crawford has been with the company for 10 years. He has seen the group register consistently high levels of growth and helped it grow its portfolio to 20 five-star hotels and residences.

“We are immensely grateful to Guy Crawford for his tireless and energetic contribution to Jumeirah. He will leave behind an enduring memory of his tremendous passion for the business as well as a huge appetite for the unexpected challenge. We wish Guy and his family every happiness for the future,” said Jumeirah executive chairman Gerald Lawless.

Meanwhile, former Viceroy Hotel Group chief executive officer Nicholas Clayton has joined Jumeirah Group as chief operating officer.

Clayton  led a team of 3500 staff across 15 properties in his role at Viceroy. He had also spent 14 years with Ritz-Carlton in the US, Australia and Singapore, where he was managing director of Ritz-Carlton Millenia.

In 2001, Clayton moved to Mandarin Oriental as senior VP of operations, based in Hong Kong, and was responsible for the group’s 18 Asian and European properties.

Lawless said he was “delighted to welcome Nicholas Clayton as COO.” He added:“His experience and leadership skills will help steer the company towards continued success and profitable growth in key markets.”
