Dubai Airports, home to the biggest Arab airline Emirates, said passenger traffic grew 15.4 percent in March from a year ago as it added new routes.
The number of passengers passing through the airport rose to 4.85m from 4.2m a year ago, the state-owned facility said in an e-mail statement today.
Cargo volumes climbed 0.3 percent to 186,417 tons from a year ago.
“New routes and additional frequencies are building on the magnetic attraction of Dubai’s hub as a premier leisure and business destination and a convenient connecting point for global travellers,” said CEO Paul Griffiths. “As growth continues to pick up in almost all markets, both traditional and new, the outlook for the second quarter is similarly positive.”
