A new crystal lagoon, developed by Citystars Properties, will be recognised by Guinness World Records as the world’s largest.
The 120,000 sqm lagoon was designed by world-renowned Chilean architect Fernando Fischmann, who also created the previous record holder, a 80,000 sqm crystal lagoon in Chile.
Engineer Yehia al-Meteini, general manager of Golden Pyramids Plaza and chairman of Golden Coast, the developer of the Sharm El Sheikh and Hurghada Citystars projects, said: "The record-breaking Lagoon will add a new dimension to the Tourism and Real Estate markets, not only in Egypt, but also in the Arab region at large.”
Al-Meteini added: “The Crystal Lagoon, at Citystars Sharm al-Sheikh comes in harmony with our earnest endeavour to stay on top of multi-use developments market, in Egypt and to set new internationally-recognized benchmarks, for urban and seaside resorts.”
Joaquin Konow, general manager of the Chile-based Crystal Lagoons Corporation, said: “Thanks to Citystars Properties, it’s an honour to be part of this mega project in Egypt and particularly in a fascinating city as Sharm El Sheikh.”
“Once it is completed, the Sharm El Sheikh version of the Crystal Lagoon will clinch the world title, and will attract global attention, especially among beach tourists,” he added.
