Pompeii, Dubai's newest Italian eatery, is hosting a pizza-eating competition on June 2 in which entrants can win two flights to Italy.
Restaurant bosses are also hoping to break the Guinness World Record and will have judges on standby.
Culinary competitors will be asked to eat their way through a 12 inch margherita pizza in the quickest possible time.
Currently the record is held by Japanese guzzler Takeru Kobiyashi with a time of 1 minute 9.36 seconds.
Director of Pompeii Cheryl Vaughn said the event is sure to capture the hearts and stomachs of Dubai!
“We all love a good pizza, and we all know someone who’s finished before everyone else – so now is the time to get all of Dubai’s pizza gobblers in one place and see who is the fastest.
“We’ve been in contact with Guinness World Records, so the incentive to take part for Dubai’s foodies is two-fold: not only will the winner receive two tickets to the heart of pizza land, they also have the opportunity to get their name inked into that most coveted of record books – by making pizza history here at Pompeii.”
The event will take place at 5pm on June 2 at Pompeii Italian Restaurant & Cafe, located at Jumeirah Lake Towers, opposite the JLT Marina metro station.
