Abu Dhabi bakery Blossom Sweets expands

James Clarey, May 31st, 2012

A popular Abu Dhabi bakery, Blossom Sweets, has finished building its new kitchens, as part of a company-wide expansion.

The company developed its larger store six months ago on Abu Dhabi’s Murror Road, and has just finished building its new kitchens to meet a “meteoric rise in popularity”.

Blossom Sweets was set up in 2008 by Lamia Ahmed Al Hashly, who specialises in cupcakes, but Aaron Maree, who has been a consultant for the company, has now joined the team as a full partner, as well as its executive pastry chef.

There are now six full time pastry chefs working in the newly developed kitchens, producing custom-made cakes and deserts for customers, as well as stocking the Murror Road outlet.

Maree said that it also intends to open up more outlets in the future. While its kunafa cupcakes and rosewater éclairs are a big hit, Maree said: “Trends come and go, but what we want is to be the quintessential pastry store where you find something to take your fancy, no matter what the daily trends.”

“We simply want to make what the customers require. We have our regular range of pastries and cupcakes, and we will branch out to cookies, chocolates and hopefully the full spectrum of desserts,” he added. “While cupcakes and macaroons are trendy today, customers’ simple requirement of a happy birthday or anniversary cake has been around forever and we just hope to achieve customer satisfaction on a daily basis.”
