Thousands flock to Dubai Marriott recruitment day

James Clarey, June 19th, 2012

The soon-to-open JW Marriott Marquis Dubai held a three-day recruitment drive in the city last week, which saw 5000 Dubai residents attend.

The event, which was held in Ritz-Carlton DIFC, was organised to search for potential employers of the hotel, which is due to open in Q4 2012 and will be crowned as the world’s tallest hotel.

Rupprecht Queitsch, general manager of the JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Dubai, said: “The opening of such a luxurious hotel provides a fantastic opportunity for us to recruit the highest possible calibre of staff that Dubai has to offer.

We were delighted with the skill sets of the 5000 people who attended the event and we look forward to welcoming the 500 successful applicants to the JW Marriott Marquis Dubai team and ensuring that the hotel launch is a huge success.”

The hotel will be opened in two stages, with the first stage in Q4 opening up 804 rooms, conference spaces, health club, spa and restaurants. To meet the employment needs, it is also running a web portal to welcome job-seekers from outside the sector and region.

It will be the first hotel outside of North America to have the Marquis label, which is reserved for properties deemed to be iconic in scale, grandeur and location.
