Kempinski brings in new public relations VP

Kempinski Hotels has appointed Maria Kuhn as its new vice president of public relations.

She joins the company from Shangri-La International Hotel Management Ltd. in Hong Kong, where she has held the position of director of corporate communications, and was responsible for strategies both internally and externally.

She has an extensive background in international PR, having worked with hospitality groups across Asia, the Americas and Europe.

Originally from Germany, where she completed an apprenticeship at the Hotel Schloss in Schoenburg, she began her career in PR at Mark Hopkins InterContinental Hotel i San Francisco.

In 1999 she was promoted to PR manager at the property, and two years later moved to Four Seasons Hotel in London, as director of PR.

After three years in the English capital, Kuhn moved to Bangkok with Four Seasons, where she was regional director of PR for Thailand. She then moved to Shangri-La in 2010.

In her new role she will oversee the five regional PR directors in Berlin, London, Moscow, Dubai and Beijing, and will report directly to the group’s COO, Duncan O’Rourke.
