VingCard Elsafe and Lutron have partnered to launch a new in-room light control and energy management solution.
The deal combines occupancy-sensing technology from VingCard Elsafe, which is part of the ASSA ABLOY group, with the light and temperature control solutions from Lutron for a fully integrated system. On initial testing, the system averages energy savings of around 25%.
With the new system, hotels can set lights to automatically come on or adjust shades and adjust the temperature of the room when a guest enters the room. When it becomes vacant, the system can then turn lights off and set the temperature back.
Tim Shea, president of ASSA ABLOY Hospitality, said: “More and more, the global hotel industry is demanding an integrated in-room light and temperature control solution that can help manage energy more efficiency, while ensuring guest comfort and enhancing their guests´ in-room experience.
“The VingCard Elsafe-Lutron collaboration has produced a unique new ‘total solution’ that combines the most advanced technologies with the power, reliability and global capabilities of two proven industry leaders.”
The room control solution implements VingCard Elsafe’s Orion system, which is comprised of wireless digital thermostats, occupancy sensors, door position interfaces, remote server software and a dashboard reporting interface. This all combines with Lutron’s Pico and seeTouch lighting and temperature control systems.
Olivier Perrigueur, vice president of global corporate accounts of Lutron Electronics, said: “Collaborating with VingCard Elsafe will bring a unique, value-added solution to the global hotel market and provide our mutual clients around the globe with an unprecedented ability to generate operational savings, while creating a unique environment for their guests that sets them apart from the competition.”
