BurJuman shopping centre, Dubai, is set to host the BurJuman World Food Fest 2012 this September comprising cooking master classes, workshops and competitions.

The Treat festival will commence on September 11 with a selection of interactive sessions from chefs from renowned hotels across the UAE including Dusit Thani Dubai; Kempinski Hotel & Residences Palm Jumeirah; Radisson Blu Hotel, Dubai Deira Creek, The Ritz-Carlton DIFC; Meliá Dubai and Dubai Marriott Hotels.

The festival will conclude with the Burjuman Junior Chef of the Year Award competition which will take place from September 18-22 .

“Dubai is a foodie’s dream in terms of the sheer variety and authenticity of the cuisines available and that’s exactly what we wanted to celebrate with Treat,” says Sabina Khandwani head of PR and marketing, BurJuman. “People in Dubai love their food and this is a great way to learn from some of the city’s brightest culinary stars. Food, meals and eating is a social and interactive experience and that’s exactly what we wish to bring to life with this festival."

From September 11-16, each day will see chefs from one hotel take to the stove in the daily sessions, with the audience given a chance to learn how to replicate their signature dishes, pick up professional secrets and sample creations.

Six audience members will be randomly selected to take direction from a master chef and cook their own versions of the chosen dishes.

Audience members will also be able to participate in fun daily cook off competitions where they can test their knowledge of the ingredients that go into classic dishes and present their cooking skills while recreating them.

On September 17, the International Centre for Culinary Arts Dubai will provide world-class culinary training to visitors. Featured amongst the Top 10 culinary institutes in the World, ICCA Dubai will showcase educational workshops at ‘Treat’, for those seeking to pursue cookery as a hobby or life skill.

The food fest will conclude with another highlight on the city’s culinary calendar – the coming together of more than 350 chefs in a live competition conducted by BurJuman in association with The Emirates Culinary Guild to battle it out from September 18-22 for the title of BurJuman Junior Chef of the Year.

Chefs from across the UAE will come together to take part in a series of 14 themed tests of culinary finesse and creativity – with rounds such as tiered wedding cake decoration, fruit and vegetable carving, tapas, finger food and canapés, three-course gourmet dinner service, Arabic cuisine and more. The interactive competitions will offer audience members the chance to view upcoming cooking talent and sample some of the competing entries.
