Okku Dubai hailed as region's best bar by Caterer

Okku Dubai, located in the H Hotel, has won the Caterer Middle East Award for Bar of the Year, sponsored by Patchi.

Other shortlisted outlets included the highly commended, and last year’s winner, Barasti Beach Bar, Le Meridien Mina Seyahi Beach Resort and Marina, Dubai, as well as Belgian Beer Café, Grand Millennium Dubai Hotel, Al Barsha, M-DEK, Media One Hotel, Dubai and Y-Bar, Yas Island Rotana, Golf Plaza, Abu Dhabi.

Judges were impressed that the bar had “placed experts in key positions to educate, entertain and enhance the dining experience”, and said it has an “absolute focus on being the best”.

Due to sales “rocketing by 21% in the past year,” the judges hailed the outlet as a “winner by a clear mile”. The homegrown Dubai brand also picked up the award in 2010.

Okku co-founder Markus Thesleff paid tribute to his staff for the award:

The fourth annual Caterer Middle East Awards took place yesterday (September 26) at Jumeirah Emirates Towers, Dubai.
