An underwater hotel is being planned for Oman, with a location to be chosen within four months.
BIG InvestConsult AG, the company which represents the Water Discus concept, developed by Poland’s Deep Ocean Technologies, told the Oman Daily Observer that the sultanate would be an ideal location for the project.
BIG InvestConsult president and CEO Bogdan Gutkowski said: “In our internal analysis, Oman has been defined as one of those locations where the Water Discus Hotel could be implemented.
“The project is still in the conceptual stage. However, we have planned to find an exact location within three to four months. Then we will start to develop the project and look for a co-investor,” he added.
Dubai-based Drydocks World and its sister company Maritime World signed an agreement in May which named them as exclusive principal contractors for any construction work on underwater leisure or related projects in the Gulf for BIG InvestConsult.
The standard model of the Water Discus Hotel will have 21 rooms built 10 metres under water, as well as leisure facilities above the water surface and additional satellite extensions.
Gutkowski said: “It will add value to the surrounding landscape, because of its unique architectural design. We sincerely hope that the Water Discus Hotel location and construction could be a part of Oman’s tourism strategy in promoting of the country as a really unique leisure place.”
