Emirates bumps up South-East Asian services

Emirates Airline will increase the frequency of its services to three key hubs in South-East Asia, the Dubai-based carrier announced on Monday.

From December 3, the operator will bolster its number of flights to Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur from three-times-a-day to 25 per week, with this again rising to 26 a week starting February 6 next year.

The new Kuala Lumpur service will be operated by an Airbus A330 and will add an additional 2,370 seats per week to this route, Emirates said.

From January 1, Emirates will begin a third daily non-stop service to the Philippines capital Manila, with a third daily non-stop flight to Jakarta, Indonesia’s capital, starting from March 1 2013.

Both the new Jakarta and Manila services will be operated by Boeing 777-300ERs.

“The new services offer our passengers with more options of their preferred departure time when travelling to Dubai, or travelling onwards throughout our ever-expanding global network,” Salem Obaidalla, Emirates’ senior vice president, commercial operations, Far East and Australia, said in a statement.

“The extra capacity will also stimulate further tourism and trade between Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, UAE and beyond,” he added.
