Grand Hyatt's Addagatla named best laundry manager

Venkat Addagatla from Grand Hyatt Dubai cleaned up last night, winning the title of Laundry Manager of the Year, sponsored by Diversey, at the Hotelier Middle East Awards 2012 presented by Du.

Recognising the talents in the guest-facing field of dry cleaning, laundry and pressing, the judges said Addagatla was “Dedicated to training... produc[ing] five laundry managers who now work in sister Hyatt hotels and scored 100% in the last employee engagement survey.”

Diversey's sales manager - UAE, David Turnbull, presented the award to the laundry manager, who is in charge of the uniforms for the 1000-strong team, and has also recently designed uniforms for new outlets The Living Room and Al Manzil.

At the 1920s-themed event, held at Ritz-Carlton DIFC, Addagatla said: “This is a recognition of the trust the management and senior team have in me and my team. It will really boost the morale, and improve the services even further. It will really be cherished and celebrated by everyone – today I am representing the whole team of Grand Hyatt laundry, the hotel as a whole and also our management team, as it is due to the efforts from all of us."

Highly commended in the shortlist was also Gideon Mayabi from Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates.
