Only two hotel firms made the 2012 World’s Best Multinational Workplaces ranking by Great Place to Work Institute.
Marriott made the rankings at number six, while Accor came in at 19. Other hospitality-related firms included Pepsico and McDonald’s.
Marriott employs 325,000 employees (including those at managed and franchised properties), has seen 2.7% growth, and generates US $12.3 billion global revenue. Average age of employees is 41.5 years. Women make up 33% of the executive and senior management team and voluntary turnover stands at 17%.
Accor has 160,000 employees and generates US $7.9 billion revenue gloibally. There are three applicants for every one job. The average age of employees is 29.5 years and women make up 43% of executive or senior management roles.
Research firm Great Place to Work selected the World’s Best Multinational Workplaces from nearly 5700 companies that participated in Best Workplaces competitions dur¬ing late 2011 to mid-2012 in the 45 countries in which it operates.
Some 350 multinational corporations participated globally in the surveys. Of these, 250 appeared on one of group’s national Best Workplaces Lists, conducted in countries ranging from Argentina to Finland and Australia.
Of these 250 best companies, 38 passed additional eligibility criteria for the World’s Best Multinational Workplaces list.
Information technology firm SAS Institute made the top spot, beating Google at number two.
