Anantara unveils Desert Islands Conference Centre

Louise Birchall, December 3rd, 2012

Anantara has launched a new conference centre at the Desert Islands Resort & Spa by Anantara, on Sir Bani Yas Island.

The Desert Islands Conference Centre can accommodate 350 people for sit-down dinners, and includes five break-out rooms.

Earlier this year, the group partnered with Rotana Jet to offer flights to the island.

David Garner, regional director of sales and marketing, Middle East, Anantara Hotels, Resorts and Spas, said in June: “Now we can really start to pitch for international and domestic conference business, incentive business and government group business to fly down to the island – it could be a day visit, a two-day meeting or longer, and you can now either drive or fly.”

The conference centre will be located adjacent to the current resort, on the north of the island, overlooking the sea.

Sharon Garrett-Otter, area director of marketing and communications, Abu Dhabi, Anantara Hotels, Resorts and Spas said in June: “It’s a very unique conference centre with natural light from the dome ceiling flooding the rooms. It’s going to be an amazing venue for destination weddings. It will really open up our business opportunities on the island and will add another dimension.”
