The Tilal Liwa Hotel will become the epicenter of the annual Al Dhafra Camel Festival of the Western Region, one of the biggest gatherings of camel owners from across the GCC area, running from December 15 to December 30.

The event, situated on the basin of the Rub Al Khali Desert and known for some of the world’s highest dunes, will host more than 2000 Arabian camels that will compete in a series of races and a camel beauty contest.

Among them will be the Majaheem, widely acknowledged as the most powerful and expensive breed of camel. The camels will compete for prizes and a title in the Al Dhafra Camel Beauty Contest.

As the host hotel, Tilal Liwa hopes to draw the attention of the anticipated celebrities, royalty, and well-known personalities in attendance at the festival.

“It is worth an experience because this is a special time in the region when the beauty of the desert takes center stage in a festival that brings together the finest breed of camel,” said Tilal Liwa Hotel general manager Ayman Ashor.

“The event draws coverage and participants from here and abroad because of its prestige and we would like residents and guests to experience the fun and excitement surrounding the festivities.”

In celebration, the four-star hotel has prepared a special package for guests of the festival. The deal includes a room, buffet breakfast for two, access to recreational facilities, transport to the festival, and Arabic coffee and dates on arrival.

The Festival is organised under the supervision of the Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority (TAC) and will also feature a traditional souk; camel auction; and contests for handicrafts, poetry, date packaging, and photography.
