Works are due to start on Starwood’s W Amman following the commissioning of Dubai Construction Company to build the US $200 million mixed-use development the hotel is housed in.

The W Amman will be a 36-storey tower comprising 280 rooms and 42 serviced residences, expected to launch in 2016. The tower stands atop an eight-level podium housing offices, high-end retail and hotel facilities.

“The signing of this contract is a major milestone that ushers in an exciting stage in our business plans. This project is designed to provide world-class facilities to support Jordan's tourism and business growth,” said developer Saraya Abdali Real Estate Investment Company GM Khalil S. Saket.

The design of the hotel, Starwood’s first W in Jordan, is inspired by the architecture of the Nabatean city of Petra, conceptualised by international architecture Perkins and Will.

“Each W Hotel has a unique design personality inspired by its local context and brought to life through innovative design collaborations that fuse W’s DNA with what is extraordinary about the destination and its culture. We look forward to working with Saraya and DCC in bringing W’s cutting-edge design to Amman and introducing a unique contemporary lifestyle to the city,” Anthony Ingham, vice president, luxury and design brands, Starwood – Europe, Africa & Middle East said.

Amman based Dubai Construction Company is a subsidiary of the Dubai Contracting Company. CEO Abdallah H Yabroudi said: “We are very happy to draw on our experience and rich expertise for the implementation of this prestigious project on behalf of Saraya, which will be a positive contribution to boosting world-class infrastructure for Jordan's tourism industry.”
