David Edgcumbe, January 7th, 2013

Wyndham Grand Regency Doha has been awarded the “Wyndham Green” award at Wyndham Hotel Group’s Europe, Middle East and Africa Awards.

The property completed energy-saving initiatives such as replacing halogen lighting with LEDs, reducing energy consumption from lighting by almost 75%, and was chosen to be the first hotel in Doha to join the Qatar Green Building Council (QGBC).

In recognition of its ongoing commitment to sustainability the hotel has also worked with the QGBC to co-found the first Green Hotel Interest Group.

“Wyndham Grand Regency Doha is a truly fantastic hotel that has taken sustainability and Wyndham Green very seriously since joining us in April 2011. I congratulate the hotel and its staff on the superb work they have done and thank them for both their dedication to the brand and their dedication to corporate social responsibility,” said Rui Barros, senior vice president and managing director, Wyndham Hotel Group Europe, Middle East and Africa.
