Oman Air expands fleet to serve new flights

Oman Air has introduced two new Boeing 737-800 aircraft to its fleet as it prepares for extra flights to India and Pakistan.

The additional planes bring the total of the fleet to 30, and follow the recent signing of Memorandums of Understanding between the Oman and Indian, and Oman and Pakistan to increase the number of flights between the two countries.

The wet-leased aircrafts will be put into action later this month, and will help the airline double daily services from Muscat to Chennai, Delhi and Hyderabad, as well as daily services from Muscat to Lahore and Islamabad.

Oman Air’s chief executive officer Wayne Pearce says: “Increasing the size of our B737 fleet allows us to be more flexible, offering even more choice for Oman Air’s growing number of customers.

“In line with the increased awareness of Oman Air’s outstanding international reputation amongst travelers, demand has increased considerably, and we look forward to welcoming passengers on board our additional aircraft.”

The airline’s 737s currently fly on a number of short and medium-haul routes. The fleet includes fifteen B737-800s, two B737-700s, four Airbus A330-200s, three A330-300s, four Embraer E175 regional jets, and two ATR 42s.
