Muscat Airport closed after flight crash lands

Muscat International Airport was forced to temporarily close to all air traffic on Monday afternoon after a Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight crash landed on the runway.

Flight PK25-259, a Boeing 737-700 flying from Sialkot to Muscat carrying 107 people on board, suffered a collapsed landing gear when landing on the runway in Muscat at 13:25 local time, Aviation Herald reported.

No injuries were reported, although the aircraft suffered substantial damage its main gear, wing and engine.

At the time of publication, all departures and arrivals at Muscat International Airport were cancelled until Tuesday morning, according to the Oman Airports Management Company website.

No-one from Muscat International Airport could be contacted by Arabian Business for comment on the matter.
