A 27-year old British bride, on honeymoon in Dubai, is believed to have fallen to her death from a hotel room window at Jumeirah Creekside hotel.

Abbie Emmett, a vicar’s daughter, died in the emirate on February 19, just days after arriving in the UAE with her new husband following their wedding in South Africa, the UK's Daily Mail reported.

A Foreign Office spokesperson confirmed the death and said it is “providing consular assistance to the family at this difficult time”.

Dubai Police said Emmett may have committed suicide, according to a report in 7Days, but no further information was released on how police had come to their conclusion.

The police spokesman told the newspaper: “We received an emergency call about a woman who fell from a hotel balcony. We arrived at the scene and transferred her to hospital but she died due to serious injuries.”

Emmett married Sean Emmett, a former professional Grand Prix motorcycle racer, in Cape Town two weeks ago.

Jumeirah said in a statement to Hotelier: "Our thoughts are with the deceased’s family and friends at this difficult time. The issue continues to be handled by the police and any inquiries should be directed to them".
