Peru exhibited for a second time at Gulfood 2013 but with a stand 30% bigger and more companies this year than in 2012.

In addition, a Taste of Peru festival is being held at the Madinat Jumierah in Dubai.

"We want to introduce to chefs what Peruvian cuisine is all about and the uniqueness of our gastronomy. Peru this year was rated as having the best gastronomy by the World Travel Awards,” explained Alvaro Silva-Santisteben, director of the Peru trade and investment office in Dubai.

He also exclusively revealed to Caterer that Dubai would be getting its first 100% Peruvian cuisine restaurant in March 2013.

“It’s not a Peruvian franchise, we’d like to open a hundred restaurant franchises under the umbrella of Peru but at least there is a vision to start and an introduction to Peruvian gastronomy.

“It’s taken a year and a half to get there, we are taking baby steps, but those steps are solid,” he added.
