Dubai’s Media One Hotel is giving visitors the opportunity to own valuable pieces of art for as little as $1.

Held as part of the Dubai Dollar Project, the event will see unique pieces of art from Jim Wheat’s Money Collection displayed in the lobby of the hotel.

Dollarsandart was conceived by Jim Wheat, an artist spurred on at a time of deep loss to produce his first collection entitled The Money Collection. Jim’s art uses a variety of materials to produce each piece; from old and new money from various currencies, to the mediums of sand, everyday items, resin and oils. It all has a quirky and humorous feel to it but offers a more profound intention to encourage people to question what money means to them.

“We pay tribute to the skills and passion of artists in the community and believe that Media One’s hospitality welcomes all guests to become involved a refreshing, yet authentic artistic experience. We have been inspired by Jim’s story to launch dollarsandart and think that he has really made a statement of his identity, as his abstractions are a unique expression that breaks boundaries in a quirky and humorous way”, said GM Mark Lee.

The Dubai Dollar Project will last for 28 days at Media One Hotel as The Money Collection consists of 28 original works plus four installation pieces just for fun. Every time you visit the exhibition you are entitled to complete one free $ claim slip to enter into the ballot box. There is $64,000 worth of art available to be claimed when the grand draw is made on Wednesday 3 April, during the gala closing event, at THE DEK on 8.

All the $claim slips will be entered into the draw for INDULGEN$E, worth $20,000 and the winner will just need to hand over $1 to claim the original. There will then be another draw for 28 hand embellished prints of all the pieces in the Money Collection, framed and signed, worth over AED5000 ($1400) each.
