Muriya Tourism Development has said the first internationally-branded hotel in its Salalah Beach development, the five-star Salalah Rotana Resort & Spa, is due to be completed by the end of 2013.
Established in 2006 as a joint venture between Egypt's Orascom Development and the partially government-owned Omran, Muriya Tourism Development is currently developing two Integrated Tourism Developments (ITD) within Oman, the six-hotel, 1000-room Jebel Sifah and the seven-hotel, 1900-room Salalah Beach.
Speaking to Hotelier Middle East, Muriya Tourism Development marketing director Bahaa Hefzalla said: “There is one 64-room boutique hotel that has been open since last year and the 400-room Rotana hotel will open by the end of this year.
"The building work is mostly finished with only the final stages left to complete. There are also agreements in place for a Club Med hotel and a Moevenpick hotel with construction to begin very soon,” Hefzella revealed.
The Salalah Rotana Resort & Spa, Oman will be located in the coastal town of Salalah famous for its summer monsoon that produces mild weather between May and September, and will offer a wide choice of bars and restaurants, a health and fitness centre, a private beach and a Zen the Spa at Rotana.
Muriya’s Jebel Sifah development, located 45 minutes from Muscat and set among the backdrop of the Hajjar Mountains, will include a 18-hole golf course and Oman’s first inland marina. Agreements are currently in place with Four Seasons, Missoni, Banyan Tree and Angasana hotels with development due to begin within six months.
